Habitat - Indoor :: New Setup

Here's my new setup for my Belize Slidre who is 3". It's a 60 Gallon tank. It's not complete yet, tomorrow I have to get another bag of rocks to cover the bottom and I'll probably put the turtle in then. The filter is a Fluval 404. I plan on waiting a 24 hour period before my turt goes in the water. I added some Reptisafe to hurry the process.

The story with the stand is I ordered a 30" tall stand from this company, and twice they sent a 24" to the store. So the store owner then ordered from a different company who also brought a 24" tall. I didn't feel like waiting so the owner just gave me that one for $100, but it is worth $150. But it turns out to be a perfect height.

also, what is the purpose of the Reptisafe solution? I remember getting a sample once and reading the label, but I forgot already haha.

^I probably will leave the water at that height.

The repti-safe removes chlorine from the water.

I think I got the second to last one. It works great. Kinda a pain to setup, but its worth it.

Just so you're aware, all those river rocks will trap a lot of debris, which will probably foul your water faster. I actually took half a dozen rocks out of Frankie's tank recently, because I was getting a lot of garbage trapped on the bottom.

^Oh I know, It just means more work, but it's worth it for the look.

How long should I wait until I put the Pleco in?

Looks nice I have the same stand for my 55gal. I'd throw the pleco in now, they're pretty tough.

Pleco=Living with turtle for 5 months in a 15G. And the turtle doesn't bite it. It will just come up to it and use it as a step on the glass.

The water is at 72. I have to wait for the water to get to 79-80.

For the pleco, I'm not sure when it's best to put it in, but don't forget to put it in a bag of old tank water, and float it in the new tank for at least half an hour. Might be a good idea to float it before you put the turt in, just so he doesn't nip at the bag.

I thought that is only done to equalize temperature. I have a thermometer in the new one and I am waiting for it to hit the exact temperature of the other one.

The fluval 404 is a good filter. iI had it on my old 75 gal setup. It kept the water clear and clean. I have bare bottom sepups tho.

You're right on the bag floating, it's just for temperature. Whenever I get fish, I never add the store water to my tank.

Before you add either the fish or the turtle you might want to get a few hiding spots for the pleco in case the turtle takes a new-found interest in him now that there's more room in the tank for exploring.

^Oh don't worry, I have added a few hiding rocks in their for him.

So I have a Stealth Heater for up to 30 G. I'm guessing I have about that much or maybe 35 G in my tank tops. I have the heater set to 86(I only want it at 80, but its slow so I set it for 86) but the tank has been sitting at 74 since 9 am. Should I wait longer or bring the heater to 89 Degrees?
