Habitat - Indoor :: Is a 404 really good for 100 Gallons?

Well I got my Fluval 404 setup and running today and the water flow is not what I expected. I mean my 4+ has around the same output if not more, and that's only rated for what a 60Gal tank???

Thoughts?

The 404 is rated at 340gph, so it's cycling your tank 3.4x per hour if you have it full. And that's at full flow without media in perfect conditions. So you're prolly getting around 300gph out of it, which is only 3x per hour(the bare minimum).

Why not run the 404 and 4+ in combination...

There is a LOT more media in a canister versus an internal filter which equals more room for the good nitrifying bacteria.

That's what I'm doing right now. The flow actually seems to be alot better now, guess I should have waited for all the air to clear.

That's for sure. I'm thinking of running two trays of Biomax.
