the light that usually comes with a fish tank hood, (for us turtle users) could it serve any purpose other than light? like would you know if it could serve as UVA?

No it wouldn't. It's just a fluorescent light. You can get UVA from regular house bulbs and UVB light bulbs go for around $15-$20.

You can still use the hood to light the rest of your tank. We have a 30'' hood on ours.

haha ok. how much would the long UVBs cost (not the dome shaped)? does the size of a UVB or UVA depend on the size of the tank?
