so today i had absolutely nothing to do at work so i decided to fabricate a filter....tell me what you thinki...more pics tomorrow.

this is the out side...the in let is the tube on the right..



the water is then pushed through this center tube which sits in side...this is where the media is housed...and comes out the top...imalso in the process of making a corse filter pad hold to go above the inlet.

o and tomorrow i will be making 3 media baskets for it...what to put in it and what order?

NOTE:...i have a eheim professional 2 and this will be a secondary not my main.

Media usually follows this order: Mechanical, Bio Media and Chemical Media (optional). Is it easy to access the filter baskets?

the 3 baskets will stack inside the center tube and be removed using small hooks that will be welded inside the baskets.

thank god! you work there or is it your own fabricating co. that looks like on hell of an expensive filter all that stainless steel. a $200.00 canister filter looks a lot easier LOL

i just work there lol...it will look much better once ive finished and polished it

I got mine done but the pump i got is too powerful for a 30 gallon tank. its a 396 ghp and it too much pressure for the container. But i made it out of two containers. The first is the mechinical for easier cleaning and the other for bio, chem, and a fine mech filter at the end.

BUT i'm thinking of using this one with the 400 ghp pump for a futer Koi pont i'm going to build. It will be perfect for it. Plus the zoo med 501 is keeping the water in my 30 gal pretty clean for a POS

have you got a link or pics of it...pressure wont be a problem as all the parts and welding are used on 200,000 litre milk vessels etc...and it will have a flow control valve

yea with a metal canister like that pressure wont be a prob. it will be able to take quite a bit.

cheap too. 30 bucks got me the 400 gph pump. its an inline pump with optional hose sizes. 1/2 or 1 inch.

but the media container is made of a water/air proof plasic container. Once we use it for the pond i think i might make something else or use PVC pip and not the vinyal tubing.
