Where did you get your sand at? I am curious if you just bought sand from anyplace or specifically a pet store.
Thanks

I just added sand to my tank. It's Quickrete playsand from Lowes (I'm pretty sure Home Depot also sells it). You can use aquarium sand, but I've heard that it's a lot more expensive. This stuff was just $11 for 50 pounds. And if you're looking for colored sand, they sell the Crayola kind at Wal*Mart.

yes, play sand from homedepot is nice. wash it REALLY REALLY REALLY well. if you were to put in the sand without washing it, the water will never be clear and some weird residue will rise to the surface.

wash it really well. also take a quick peek at the sand FAQ that one of our very own members (chrisbarnett) has posted. its very reliable and 100% true and will help you alot with the sand and other things related.

I used a bag of traction sand from a hardware store. I found it to have finer particles than the "general purpose" sand.

I used Wal-Mart play sand. I got a 25lb bag for $3.00. It washed clean very quick and wasn't cloudy in the tank at all after putting it in.

I think next time (long time from now) I want to use colored sand. Well, the kid does more than I do. Yea, the kid does, I swear.
