so as some of you know i just recently got a 125 gallon tank for my turtles.

the part of the tank that has the plastic piece for stability also has pieces of thick glass on the sides of it too. its about over a foot long. (bad description so i posted a picture below :])

i decided taht would be perfect as a basking spot.
i just need some ideas on how i should build it.

what should i put over the glass as turf?

please share your ideas :]

and here's a picture of my new 125 gallon tank taht is soon to be set up :D

So its going to be an above the aqaurium type basking spot right? (Sorry, lol, I'm new to turtle aqauriums yet) Anyways, I was thinking the same thing as Daniel, just glue some rocks to it, but you would obviosly need something that hangs down into the water for the RES to climb on to it from too. Right?

you could just use one of those floating basking docks angled up to it

yeah, that's a good idea.

do you know by any chance if there's a way to bend pexi glass?
i figured i could just like use silicone and "glue" it to the glass and
cover it with something grippy for them to climb up it.

You'll have to use a heat gun to bend it though. a hair dryer wont cut it.

Get a heat gun and heat it up, but heat it just enough to bend it, not enough to make it bubble. That will weaken the plexiglas. We used shelf liner for grip, so you could put that on the ramp. As far as the floor of the basking area is concerened, I don't know about rocks because those are hard to grip and can get pretty slippery. You might look at using some sort of substrate like eco-earth or dirt/soil/sand. It'll give your turtles something to grip to and you can attach it with silicone. As for the enclosure itself, just make sure that it's inescapable and that you will have access to your the basking area at all times.
