We have had RES for about 3 years now. First two, then a third, then earlier this year 4 little ones that needed a home. Well on of the little ones, who is about 4" long, made it out of the 55gal tank, to the carpet, across the living room, across the kitchen, and I found him in the hall when I came home for lunch just now. Looks no worse for wear, although his mood was a little miffed. Tonights project will be making to keep him in. Might try the Plexiglas ones I have seen others do.

A few have also used an over grill or a custom made one. Good luck!

its really easy to make a plexiglass box to fit over your tank. just measure, go to Lowe's, have them cut the plexiglass and then seal it at home. voila, tank extender

Today at lunch I heard one of the little guys moving around and caught him in the act. I have removed the basking platform for today till I get the plexiglass walls up.

Until you can get the plexiglass, you can just tape a piece of the plastic egg crate on the top. It'll keep him out, it's cheap and removable.
