Habitat - Indoor :: Does Natural = Better?

I have one of those floating turtle docks (you know the tacky, ugly ones) and they use it... they don't like to hang out on it. But then I put in a piece of floating driftwood that I found at the beach a few years back and they love it! They push it around, climb up on it, roll it over. Is it because it's natural material, or do they just think it's more fun?

Maybe just fun! I've had a piece of driftwood positioned kind of diagonally in my tank since I set it up, but today I decided to stick it up near the surface of the water. The filter is cascading over one end of it like a little waterfall, and Michelangelo has been having a blast trying to brave the current flowing over the driftwood so he can climb up and get a water back massage... ^_^

I think it's just the fun. Mikey has a floating dock and a floating log. He likes playing on the log but he uses his dock to bask. He sleeps on both.
