i found several deals on craigslist.

should i take: 55 gallon glass tank with stand 100 dollars
75 gallon acrylic tank with over flow (dont know what that is) and stand 100 dollars
55 gallon acrylic with stand and light 100 dollars




what is the best deal of the 3? there are other ones but i just listed the 3

The best deal is the 75 gal, but the overflow means it's set up for a sump tank. That means it has holes in it where you can run pipes into a tank below for filtering. I've never dealt with a sump, and I'm not sure if it's something that's easy to do. It may not be the right thing for you either.

The two 55 gals for $100 aren't a fabulous deal, more just average price for tanks. For acrylic vs. glass, acrylic will get scratched with the turtles, but it's lighter in weight. However, at the 55 gal size weight is not a big issue (compared to say a 100 gallon)

I had a discussion about sump pumps and overflows with the owner of the specialty aquarium store where I bought my 75 gallon. You wount get any use out of an overflow, you need to have the tank totally filled for that. they use it alot in saltwater set ups.

ya, my mom has an acrylic tank and she told me that they are best for saltwater tsnks, which is what she uses it for, because you can drill holes in it.

i once saw the best deal, but it was months ago, when i was looking for a bigger tank for my bearded dragon, which i have now. it was a 150 gallon tank with a stand for 100 dollars, and they lived not only in my town, but in my neiborhood!! it was an incredible steal, but too big for a beardie, well, not too big, but i may not have had room for it. but if it was still there i would get it.


i will just keep looking for a good deal.
