Habitat - Indoor :: Fake plants??

Hey,
I noticed a lot of you guys have fake plants in your tanks. I'm still working on getting everything perfect in Krueger's tank. Do you think I "need" this? He seems to enjoy swimming all around his tank so I kind of thought putting something like that would just annoy him. But, do your turtles really enjoy it being in there or is it just more for looks? Also, do you have any problem with algae forming on it?

My turtles love their plants. They hide behind the small ones and sleep on top of the tall ones. Algae will stick to everything, so if you have a constant problem, it's just another thing to clean.

I like the fake plants. Squirt seems to like them too. He likes to part them and then swim through the middle, and rest in them. I like the way they make the tank look as well. They liven it up quite a bit.
Don't boil the plants though to clean them... I did that and right now I have no plants because I screwed them all up. They are all melted and mishapen.

cool...i think i'll get some...anything i should avoid? should i just get the plastic ones?? my algae proglem seems to be nearly nonexistent since I started using the "no more algae."

avoid cheapy plants. make sure you can tug on them and fiddle with them and they dont fall apart. If there are broken off, free floating pieces, your turtle may try and eat them. nice plastic plants are fine and make fun decorations for your turtle

My plants float to the top everynow and then, but I've never had a problem with my turtle trying to eat them though...

I have serveral fake plants and my guys use them as resting areas, hiding and a place for a nap. they move them around some and swim through and around them. it just makes their home a little nicer.
