I have been doing the same thing the past few months... adding more things. The best place for plants are at:

They are all in the $1-$4 range for most and the best part is the bottom of the plants have weights on them that make them stay at the bottom and not float around. My turtle was pulling out the other plants where you have to put stuff in the plastic to hold them down.
