I own a RES, his name is Bill Slowski. I've had him for about 1-1/2 years now and I have to admit that before I found this site Bill went from living in a 20 gallon turtle tank to a 30 gallon fish tank.

The first tank had a basking area, but the UV light was blocked by a plastic cover. The second tank had no basking area, just a ramp that he could get out of the water on, but wasn't really a basking area.

Then Bill got sick, he wouldn't eat, started growing green stuff on his shell. I quickly took him to the vet, and he gave me stuff for a infection and slight shell rot. He's currently back in that turtle tank, with a proper basking area, but only about a 1/2 inch water so his shell can dry out. While he gets better, I have upgraded his soon to be new home. Thanks to all of you.

After I had found this site, I realized that I was my fault the poor little guy got sick. Because of all of you and your pictures and postings Bill now will be living in a 40 gallon breeder tank. With home made basking area, and a underwater resting area. His water temp will be kept between 75-78 degrees and his new state of the art basking area will be kept approx 10-15 degrees warmer.

I will be submitting photos, as soon as I get another heater and the lights fully set up.

Thanks again everyone, if it wasn't for you guys Bill probably wouldn't have made it. Thank you!

Tabitha

its nice to know this website has saved a life. If it werent for this website my 3 turtles (3 inch and 5 inch) would still be living in a 2 gallon tank with just a normal lamp.
