Habitat - Indoor :: i love my homemade filter

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Post Posted: Thu Feb 07, 2008 5:27 pm   i love my homemade filter

for my 125 gallon tank we made a filter by using the powerhead and other parts out of a sea reef wet dry.... we took a rubbermaid container drilled holes into 2 sides put the powerhead in the container with medium size gravel and media from the seareef <the medium size gravel is used as media also>then put the lid on the container and put a hole in the top for the powerhead oh and the powerhead has this thing on it to control the water flow and took the hose thing to the other side of the tank to push water to the side the filter is on. anyway the filter works great and im very happy with how clean it keeps the tank here is a pic of the filter we put decro around it so it looks nice. when i say we really my buddy did this for me haha

we have had the tank up and running alittle over a month and the tank is still nice and clean i am very happy with the job the filter is doing.

and in this pic is where the water comes out of that black thing infront of the basking land and we have the water flow turned up so it pushes the water to the other side for the filter to work so great :)

then this next one is just of the tank itself

and this next pic shows how clean and clear the water is <this is pic after the tank has been up and running for about a month>

What a creative filter. And it's so well hidden!

Could you post pictures of the filter itself? I can't picture it.

No rush, just maybe the next time you clean it or something. I would really appreciate it. Thanks.

That is a great idea. I'm really glad i clicked the "Habitat - Indoor" section cause i usually don't. I would do something like this for my tanks. Any suggestion for a good pump? I'm not sure if that brand is available here. And what should I look for in a pump?

Thank you for posting that. I didn't realize it was an internal filter. Thanks again.
