I am about to get a 125 gallon tank for my RES. She's around 4'' long. I've been keeping her in a 10 gallon and filling it up with filtered water from the brita filter. My question is:

How in god's name am I going to get filtered or even unfiltered water into my tank?!? It's in my apartment so there's no hoses nearby or anything.

Help!!!

elin-rose 97-- I would suggest that you run a hose from you washing machine hook up. Most have a 3/4" IPT thread that will connect to a hose. The only other exposed pipe in most apartments is under your toilet and easy to get to. It will take a little plumbing but not hard to do, however, if you are not sure of what you are doing, you could make a mess and cause your landlord to get upset. The only other option is a bucket and labor.

Like above, unless you are a good plumber, your only choice is a big bucket and lots of dechlorinator.

you can either use a garden house with an adapter for a faucet or you can use a python or something along those line.

We hook a hose up to our faucet and fill them up. Its super easy you can get the piece from lowes or home depot

you should try the python no spill filter. I bought it for my 80 gallon tank and its amazing. Petsmart and Big als sell it.

lol i use to do that and by the end of doing water changes every week i was exhausted...and then decided with some Christmas money to invest in the 50ft python

You might as well just get the Python and save the time and trouble. You use it to clean and refill. I bought it for my RES tank and now use it for my other fish tank- best pet investment I've ever made.

If you have good water pressure in the apartment I'd 2nd the python idea. I thought the pressure in our house was good enough, but it really didn't work to well (especially for draining). I hook up the python to an outside hose faucet though & it works great!

If you don't have the greatest water pressure I'd suggest going to a home improvement store & speaking w/ someone there about hooking up a length of hose to a sink - or better yet, shower/tub - faucet. I guaranted there will be an easy solution.

I agree, get a Python. You can make your own but it's a real convenient package for draining/filling tanks.

Pythons are the best! You should definatly get one of those. I was suprised at how fast everything went with it and how easy it was when I first used mine.

The tank is going to weigh about 1000 lbs so make sure the floor can take it.
