I got Moxie's new tank maybe a month and a half ago, filled it up, got it set up with Napoleon's old filter, and after about a day the water turned green and cloudy. I assumed it was just 'new tank syndrome' and have continued doing water changes, expecting it to clear up. It doesn't seem to be improving at all. After about a day, the water starts to turn cloudy and within 48 hours you can't see from one side of the tank to the other.

There seems to be massive amounts of algae growing, not on the sides of the tank or on any of the surfaces, but actually in the water. There's surprisingly little algae on the walls and basking dock, but the water itself is green. I've done several partial water changes, which seem to have no effect at all, the water's just as cloudy when I'm done as when I started, and I did a few full changes (cleaning the filter in tank water) because I'm concerned about how the ickiness might be affecting Moxie. She seems fine and healthy, but does anyone have advice as to what's going on?

You may want to clean your filter or get a new one, i think its either the filter is clogged, or its just not strong enough to handle Moxie's messes

Have you tested the water to check ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? What are the readings?

By doing "water changes," you're doing partial ones? If so, how much do you remove? The massive amount of algae in the water sounds like there's a lot of phosphate and nitrate in it...
