Habitat - Indoor :: Started growing some anacharis..

in a 30 gal tank...got a basking light on them and adequate filtration and crap...going to put a couple minnows in there too....

It should be fairly easy to maintain. Don't be surprised if the fish nibble at it, though.

the guy at the pet store made it sound like this stuff grows on its own...

Apparently anacharis is banned in some states, he told me, because it multiplies too quick and can destroy ponds. Thought that was kinda funny...

It seems to be doing good though only on second day and not noticing any browning or anything...i didnt put any minnows in with them ( yeah i figured they'd eat them too marisa)


but its kinda cool hope it goes well.

Well, you can think it's funny, but imagine my surprise last year (2006) when I bought a bunch of the stuff in the spring only to find that in the fall, when I went to buy more, that anachris had been declared an invasive species in CT and was not allowed for sale. It is, however, supposedly in the majority of the lakes and ponds in the state, though.

It is quite easy to grow (I'm growing some now). A few years back I kept some growing quite well in front of a southern-exposure window with only periodic water changes.

Really? I just bought some anacharis recently at my local pet store...I know it's how you said in Washington but I didn't realize there was a ban on it in CT.
