As you may or may not know, I have a striped mud turtle named Mr.T. I've done some research & discovered that they prefer sand(they like to dig). I was just wondering, what's the best kind of sand to use in a 30 gallon tank with an internal filter?

i tried sand for a few months, but seriously ... it's extremely hard to maintain and it makes tank cleaning/water changes SUCH a hassle. I'm telling you from experience that it's just not worth it to have any kind of substrate on the bottom of a tank, with the exception of some large river rocks. If you must have sand, put it in the bottom of some type of above-tank basking enclosure... but even then your turtle will track the sand into the water and clog your filter.
