Why do you think there are so many white bubbles on top of the water in my turtle tank? I have a reptofilter and a heater 17 watt. The reptofilter works really well on keeping the water clear but makes bubbles on top of the water. I am saving up for a better filter right now, but does anyone know what might be causing this? Or how to get red of this problem? I feed them in a seperate container( my 4 res 1.5" or less each) but i do have fish flakes in there for my fish everyone in a while, and i have lettuce too. But they usually eat all that stuff in like 20 minutes.
I have 4 goldfish if you are wondering and they are very tiny. I have a 20 gallon tank, i have been begging my parents to get me a bigger one for christmas, and i really think that they are considering it and really might!! YAY! And i told them 100 gallons! Sorry, i am sorta getting off on the subject.
Anyways, I would really like to know how to fix this and I am going to do everything i can to try.

Does this happen right after you clean the filter and change the water or a few days after? Are the bubbles frothy like soap that kind of surround objects in the tank? If they are, it sounds like the water needs to be changed more frequently. How often do you do water changes and clean the filter?

I just put an indoor pond in my house, and the same thing is happening to me. Everything is new and rinsed off before I set it up. I also have these soap like white bubbles. I changed the water, and cleaned the filter pads and still the same thing. The only thing I think might be the problem, is the filter is higher than the water level, and when it overflows into the pond it gets foamy. Something like Niagara Falls...lol. Is your filter overflow higher than the water? Anyone else know what it might be?

Yes, my filter is a ReptoFilter and they are the waterfall type of filter. It gets really bad at night with the bubbles when the light is off but when i have the lights on the bubbles dissapear. I wonder why that is.

Maybe the heat from the lights evaporate the bubbles. I wish I know what it was too.

I've been having the same problem with my tank, as well. I do weekly water changes and I gave the filter a good clean just last week. I hope it's nothing too bad.

I figured out how to cure it! All you need to do is get a bubbler. Its great to help filter the tops of the water.
