Anacharis is good. Turtles love to eat it and it gets all of its nutrients from the water so even if it's uprooted by a turtle and floating around, it's still capable of growing. In addition, a bundle of anacharis is really cheap.

joshfish wrote:the problem is silicone doesnt bond very well to the plastic. you can get the glue for acrylic/plexi at most glass shops. if you have a way to cut the acrylic its not hard to glue. if the acrlyic is not cut straight it makes it hard to get a good glue job. i have done it before but it was on a sump so looks didnt matter just function. in this case i wanted it to look good also thats why i had someone else do it for me.

Ahhh....was just about to silicone a piece of plexiglass/acrylic in the corner of my glass tank to create an overflow. Think water will get past the silicone joints since it doesn't bond that well to acrylic? Should I use a piece of glass instead? Was hoping to use acrylic so that I could drill holes to establish the water level.

psumichael, in that situation you will probably be fine to silicone it in. i have siliconed acrylic baffles into sumps for my saltwater tanks and had no issues. its when you try to hold two pieces of acrylic toghether with silicone that it doesnt hold. plus the pressure fom the water will help hold it in place.
