If the intake grill is on tight it should be fine. Some people have siliconed it on in the paste which is not a bad idea. You can also make your own... use a pvc pipe with a cap and drill some holes along the pipe. That would be the safest one you can use.

So, what about aquarium decorations? Like, the one's you put in regular fish tanks? What should I look out for, and are they okay to have in his tank?

Edit:: I was thinking of having it partially out of the water, so that he can rest on it.
I'm guessing he should have multiple spots along the water to use to rest? I was going to also get him the Zoo Med Floating Log, not as a basking place but as a resting place. Could I use a air pump with some sort of air stone when using sand? if yes, how do I go about doing that? Wouldn't it disrupt the sand?

Pretty much anything safe for fish is safe for turtles. Just keep in mind turtles are a lot more destructive. They also like to squeeze into tight spots, so make sure it's either big enough or too small for them to try something.

That's fine... same rules apply. My turtles like to bite things, so make sure what ever you use can stand up to a little abuse.

Apparently 'm getting a small Exo Terra filter (44.66) on Amazon and I'm going to use it for a week before I can afford a second canister.
THis means, Nemo is moving into his new home This Weekend!
I think I'm going to find a way to use his old ten gallon as his basking platform.
How could I go about doing this?

So I can move him, and add on another filter in a week. I really need to get him out of his ten gallon. It makes me feel bad that he's in there.
And I figured I could always use it for any next projects I decide to do.
Edit:: I have two days to come up with some sort of basking thing for his new fifty five gallon. I have to go to Home Depot to pick up sand tomorrow, I was thinking about doing a three sided ATBA with black wood on the back and two sides, then plexi-glass on the front. The only bad thing is, I have no idea how to go about doing this.

Or could I just use his old ten gallon? I would have to find someway to make it work, and I hav no idea how to do that either.

Really depends on your carpentry skills, since it's not going to have too much weight on it you wouldn't need to be thick wood. Draw it out before you go buying things. If you have to cut Plexi-glass (acrylic) it might be a bit challenging if you never done it before. Get a saw with as many teeth as you can find.

You can use the 10G but will have to remove the bottom, cause the glass will filter out the UV from the light which will have a negative effect.

I decided to just continue with his old basking spot, or getting some cork from the pets tore and using it for a week, then making my own ATBA.

We ran into a bit of a setback.
We're worried about the tank caving in the floor. When I calculated the weight, it would be around 800 pounds in my bedroom. There's a crawl space (we think) under my room, and the wall the tank is up against is the wall separating my and my brothers room. There's a concrete wall underneath my room because of how our house is built. My room is more inside and my brothers room 'sticks out' and the concrete 'wall' goes outwards starting behind the tank.
I'm waiting to see what my dad thinks before I start adding water to let it cycle through a night.

Edit:: The Exo Terra filter came in about three hours ago. It was really simple to put together, and I know for a fact it won't last long. I'm getting a second filter next week
Where would be the best place to put the Exo Terra on the tank? If I put it on one side won't it not get the othr side of the tank?

WHat kind of stand do you have? Some people layout some plywood to help distribute the weight. I think one person on the forum put up a steel column in his basement for extra support.

It looks like it's made from sort of wood and metal. The old owner had it filled to the top with water for his three turtles in his second story of his house, but I know all houses are built differently.

Every floor is different, but I doubt you have to worry about 55 Gallon.

Thanks for posting that. I agree, most tanks and most floors are fine.
