The UVC is working out great, it keeps the water crystal clear. ill try to get some decent photos of the water clarity and up them for you. i will never go back to an external canister meant for fishtanks.

my laguna pond filter has been cleaned once in the last 10-12 months and it still keeps the water parfectly clear. due to the waste load the filter can handle, the actual waste produced my the turtles is mimimal compared to the filters capeabilities. i plan to clean it in june as i plan to replace the filter sponges and add some bio balls.

fitted the new UVA/B strip yesterday, had to fully strip down the lighting controller to allow the wiring to be fed where i wanted it. i also had to make a reflector for it which i made from an old 2ft tank lid i found in the attic.

also put a food bowl in there because the turts kept flicking food sticks everywhere. the small turtle dock, has now been taken back out too as i thought it looked a bit out of place.

just an update, ive found a very usefull piece of equipment.

today i realised i have an external floodlight that was not in use and has not been since before i moved in due to the wire being cut. so i took it off the wall and put a plug on the end, low and behold, it worked.

so ive temporarily mounted it inside the ATBA and plan to monitor the temperature.

the floodlight is a 500w flouresent lamp and have a spare 400w bulb. the lamp can take a minimum of 300w bulb, so i plan to buy one of those too and work out which is bast to use and how much ventilation is needed etc. i also plan to strip the light down completely and build a custom mount for it to keep it hidden from view as best as possible.

for the time being, ill leave it mounted at the right hand end of the ATBA.
