Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

you might want to try and disinfect your tank with a weak solution of bleach and let it dry out for atleast 48 hours to see if that helps.

it does sound like some sort of fungus. i'd say go out to the pet store and buy a water testing kit to see if everything is in balance.

I dont know. I did read about something similar in another forum, and it turned out that the cause of it was something about the ph? But as of right now, i dont want you to go out and disinfect your tank, because it may very well be nothing.

I'll let someone else answer this, cause i'm stumped.

I had furry white stuff on the rubber on my heater once, but after a while it disappeared. Serra's ok, though.

That looks like the same gunk I get on my cartridges after they have been used for a while. I think it's actually good bacteria, it never hurt my turtles.

If that is what you were talking about then it looks alright. I sometimes develop this slippery, brownish film on the sides of my tank and someone a long time ago told me it was just bacteria growing in my tank (good bacteria) so I just left it alone and it didnt grow anymore and stayed to a minimum. Yeah hook everything back up if ya like.

I gotta tell you though, that stuff sure as hell dont look white or cottony :)

I think that might be the beneficial bacteria....
