Habitat - Indoor :: The Winter Pond for Timmy (not all are Timmy now) (PICS)

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Baby Timmy got a buddy.
Newbie is only a little smaller than Timmy and was in a tank with no UVB or basking lights (although the owner said he had just upgraded his tank so maybe the new stuff just didn't fit; I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt on this one) and three oscars. Captain Poop Tinsel fit right in and I got a baby turtle in return.

The kids have sort of named him Jayden, after their favorite Power Ranger. I have some blurry pictures I will post when I finally get my phone to the computer this weekend. Jayden has eaten a small pellet or two and has been active but hasn't managed to get up on the basking dock yet. He tried, though, so I know he knows where it is. He was just on the wrong end.

Wait - Update: We've named the wee one Ranger to cover all the possible names the kids are going to inevitably call him / her.

Ranger got up on the basking area with Baby Timmy today!

I cleaned tanks today, and I moved fish around. Everybody looks a lot happier. Fish went from their 10 gallon tanks to the 30 gallon tank, I traded my three Silver Dollar fish for some plumbing work, and since CPT was gone already, the adult mollies got a new place to live! I also moved Princess TwoTails in there too (she's my favorite goldfish) because I recently got a new koi from a friend of mine (have I told you about Deker?) that kills other fish.

I've also moved a ton of fish from the garage to the spa pond (spond?) and filled that back up and put more plants into it and it's looking really decent for a pond filled with algae and dead hyacinth.

Um... I think that's it for now. Still no blurry pictures because I'm kinda tired and I have to ... to do... something. Oh! I have to sleep because tomorrow I have a no-computer day and I have plans. Plaaaannnnnnnnnssssss...

... yep, I'm tired.

Just a neat picture showing the turtle bottom and my old VHS tapes.

Ranger, the newbie:

Tiny Sleeping Ranger Superman! (and, yes, algae)

He noticed me.

And, my favorite, Sleeping Ranger and Curious Timmy:
Image

HEY GUYS, HI.
Image

This is Deker. He's named after a Power Ranger bad guy, and he's huge.
Image

Here's Nyrtle-Sweetpea outside!
Image

This is the first setup for Nyrtle. It's been seriously refined and doesn't look as much like crap. She has a better ramp and more sun area since I've repositioned the chair and fence some.
Image

Nyrtle wakes up, shuffles to the door, waits for us to open it, derps her way outside, usually climbs up her ramp, slides into the water, and waits for us to feed her. She then will go in and out of the water, in and out of the sun, and back in the house at night, all on her own. This also keeps solicitors from knocking on our door. She has a place to hide under her ramp if she's caught out in the sun and is scared of something, and the water has eggcrate so she can climb out from only one side.

I'm marking off a spot in the backyard that I'll be converting into a turtle pond in the three weeks I have left before I get a job. It probably won't be totally done by then, but it'll be done enough that I can work on it on the weekends and get the turtles out there ASAP. The thing I'm looking forward to most (besides letting the turtles out of the garage) is intentionally planting dandelions along one side of the pond. I don't know why, but that's something I'm excited about.

Just finished laying out the dimensions of the new outdoor habitat. As close as I can approximate it, it's got five sides, at (measured) 8' x 10' x 10' x (unmeasured) 12 x 12 (I measured!) 14' and a nudge x 17' and a nudge.

I'll start a new thread on that one as soon as I actually get more progress done than just roping it off.

When I sat down, I was casually doing research on what to call a bunch of turtles, and have decided to affectionately call my bunch my Chelonian Bale.

Then, since I love playing with words, I was considering calling this new enclosure my Bale Vale - since it'll be somewhat of a valley and it'll have a semi-river in it.

Chelonian Bale Vale.

What do you think?

Does your turtle run a video store from your home? ;) Great pics. How big are Baby Timmy and Ranger? I wonder if it's too late to get Bill a new friend.
