The filter is on the floor below the tank, right? The tank is on a stand?

Good point. I've seen very few people use the filter on the floor next to a tank, so I'm assuming that the filter is being positioned as it was intended to be. It will work on the floor level with the tank, but it's much harder to use. And, when it's primed, until it "catches" the water flow, the motor will just hum. And, if anything interrupts the water flow (like air in the tubes), everything will stop and the motor will just hum...

If you do have the filter under a stand/table and it just hums, are you sure you've got the impeller in correctly (I have to ask)? I think I put it in the wrong way once...

I have a tank stand w/ a cabinet underneath and the filter is in the cabinet, It has worked 3 to 4 weeks without a problem and then it would stop. I am going to post some pictures to my myspace account so you can see my setup.

In the meantime, I am pricing the eheim pro 2 I found it for 179 with media, I think I am going to get it, because I have tried everyting with the other one.

I also have to say one thing, and I have said it before, all you guys are great, It is like I have you all here in my house trying to help me trouble shoot, I love you guys, I wish I could have you all here cause I know we would all figure it out. Thanks again.

Ooh...if you're going to get an Eheim Pro Series canister, look at the 2028 model. If that's what you're looking at, has it really become that price with the media included?

It does sound like a priming issue. After the first 4 weeks, did it just stop by itself or after it was reconnected?
