Habitat - Indoor :: Natural Wood??

Is it possible to use natural wood in my tank?
We have a great park here with some branches and limbs that I think would be perfect for Louise.
What do I need to clean the wood with?

The more common types people use are cork bark and driftwood. Some people just leave algae on it or scrub it off with a toothbrush.

i have drift wood in my tank and the turtles as well as i love it

I use corkbark as well (it's the only basking area I like to use for my turtles).

Don't use the grape wood (vine)---it's not water resistant and is not meant to be constantly submerged in water. It will develop a slimy film and will eventually rot.

For those who have used corkbark basking areas - do you buy the flat pieces, curls or tubes? What size pieces do you use?

I completely forgot about the grape vine! (Bad Steve!) Sorry about any confusion. Cypress and Ghost Wood are also listed as OK to use as well.
