Has anyone attempted to re-seal a tank? I'm going to try to do a 75 gallon. I've found some instructions online, but wouldn't mind talking to someone who's actually done it before.
i havent done it but i know alot of people who have 1st u have to take a blade and scrape off all the old silicone then take a cloth and some spirits such as acetone and wipe the glass where the old silicone was real good and let it evap and dry then go buy some GE silicone I windows and door from home depot or lowes or a hardware store( same stuff as the all glass aquarium sealant) make sure it doesnt have the Bio seal Label on the tube and make sure its windows and door not kitchen and bath and u can get the stuff for $3 and change in a 10.1 oz caulk gun tube size then let the tank cure for about a week to be safe heres a pic of the silicone tube
I'm having a heck of a ime getting the silicon off the tank. any suggestions? I'm using an exacto knife (box cutter) tweezers, razor blade. My figers are taking a beating...
Can you get your hands on come Acetone? It will help a bunch. Other than that I use blades for pealing dry paint off of windows. The are in a rectangle shape. Single edge and you can get a handle grip thing for it as well. Other than that.. more elbow grease is needed
