Habitat - Indoor :: New red ear slider hatchling. QUESTION.

I got the little guy today and i have had the 4". Can i put them in the same tank together. they are both red ear sliders. One more thing if my hatchling has samonila or something else and i end up puting them in the tank together will it spred to my 4" turtle.

Keep them seperate. A hatchling should never be housed with a bigger turtle. Doing so you will run the risk of the 4 incher hurting/harassing or even killing the little one..I wouldnt take the chance.

I agree, don't keep them together. It's not worth the risk.

Umm i thought all turtles had salmonella. Which information is correct o.O

salmonella is a natural bacteria found in most reptiles. it hurts us, but it is normal for them.

and i concur on the keeping them separate. the little one one will most likely be killed by the big one.

Lots of creatures carry salmonella and it's only lots of food products - chickens and eggs for instance. Your turtles are probably carriers. It's always a good idea to wash your hands thoroughly before and after handling your turtle. We've had our turtle for four years and it has never made us sick - nor has anyone who visited our house gotten sick.
