Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

Hi everyone, I may be finally getting either a 40 gal or a 55 gal tank soon for pretty much free and I was just wondering what heater and filter and anything else I should get for my 2 baby turtles.

Just from researching on this site I was thinking the Rena Filstar xp3 filter. For filters I'm more concerned about quality and the noise level rather then price, so if there is one more quiet and efficient please let me know.

As for heaters I have no idea what to get, so any suggestions would be great.

I already have a basking area and I'm planning on getting another one or the log in addition.

I have my UVA/UVB lights and pretty much all the little things. Besides the Filter and Heater are there other very important things I need to get in addition? Maybe i'm just a little picky, but I want to provide a nice place for them and get them out of my tiny 10 gal. tank.

There shells are both no more than 1 1/2" in diameter. When they get a lot bigger for sure I'll have a 100+ gal tank. Since on of these is pretty much free I'll take it :)

Thanks for your time.

XP3 and most other canister type filters are quiet. For heaters, many of us use the Visitherm Stealth heater, though Tronic and Ebo jager also make very good heaters.

I would also pick up a digital thermometer (around $6).

Some ideas here:
