Habitat - Indoor :: stock tank filtration

Hello,
I am planning on purchasing a 100 gallon stock tank for my turtles. I was wondering what a good filter would be; my fluval 304 is at critical mass already.

Also, shouldn't external filters be placed below the aquarium? I was just planning on putting the stock tank on the floor, because it's too big for anything I have. If it is on the floor, and so is the filter, will i run into problems?

You can put a canister filter on the same level as the tank, however, it will be harder to prime and will be less effective and noiser. I would use two of the biggest aquaclears you can get.

you really only need to get the stock tank off the ground a little bit to have it be higher than the canister filter, have you considered something like cinder blocks (i know they arent the most aesthetically appealing but they are pretty strong)

thanks for the replies. i have considered cinder blocks and pond filters. however, i really hate the idea of too much external stuff. i am very tired of external filters in buckets and tubes going everywhere. and space is rather limited in my apartment.

i am going to cut a hole in the side of the tank and fit in an aquaclear 110. i may add another filter if that one isn't enough. i'm just waiting for the new stuff to arrive next week. i'll post pics of the set-up, assuming it works.
