Habitat - Indoor :: Is this sand Safe????

I was wondering if this Nature's Ocean Premium Marine Substrates
sand is safe (if ingested) to put in with my turtles. I know that some people have used the Exo Terra riverbed sand but I wanted a different color. So if you have any experience with this sort of thing please let me know

i asked some one at petco about putting sand and they said sand is bad for their digestion

Yes, I'd pass on the sand. Maybe you could put some nice river rocks in there.

if you were to put rocks make sure to put BIG rocks because my turtles always bite the rocks so i took them out.

have you seen my post with that sand??? check out the "sand fiasco".. ohhh I wouldnt go there. and redearningjaturtles- the exo terra is designed specifically to be fine with their digestive system, if they eat it, its perfectly fine. Thats what attracted me to it... but oh god, I dont wanna go there anymore.

There's a lot of reptile owners on other forums that swear that the sand sold in pet stores (desert sand, calci sand, etc) is dangerous for lizards since they tend to clump up when wet and will cause impaction in their digestive tracts. The sterilized playground sand (no chemicals added) is supposed to be better since it doesn't clump up as much. That's what I use for my lizards, but I wouldn't put it in an aquarium as it would be way too messy.

I would stay away from it they might digest it and it would be tough to clean the tank

Hoooneylynn, Ya, I remember seeing your post awhile ago I felt so bad for you, plus you were sick so it sucked extra bad, but Beast's tank looked so cool so I decided to do a little research. But after reading everyone’s reply I think I may just go out and get some of those river rocks, seems to be an easier choice.

River rocks are nice, but the beast's tank looked so cool. I wish it would have worked, but I realize it would be a pain in the cloaca to clean it all the time!

Plus I was talking to the pet store lady (don’t know if the info if reliable) and she said that bacteria gets soaked into the sand or something like that and that it is a pain to clean.....So ya I think Ill pick up some of those shiny black river rocks.

Oh by the way I thought your "Kiss My cloaca " shirts were pretty sweet. Even though I didn’t get to buy one.
