Habitat - Indoor :: tank placement?

i'm getting a new 55L tank tomorrow. i have two places to put it: in the area with the bay windows, and by the area with the bay windows. i think it would look pretty in the bay windows, with the christmas lights strung up on the frame so they could have like a twilight during the night. if i kept the blinds closed at all times, and put a background on the tank, would that be okay? i don't want to overheat them. i do plan to build an above-tank basking spot, but i don't know if that'll happen as soon as i want it.

I really can't help you on where to put your tank, I think it's up to you. But you do mean 55 Gallons instead of litres right?(for the tank)

Does sunlight shine directly into the bay windows? If so, for how long?

If where you are is winter now, I doubt they'd get overheated, especially if sun didn't shine into the windows or if it did, for only a small portion of the day (can't give a more definite answer without knowing the above). Monitoring the water temp and basking area temps are important. You're more likely to have an algae issue, though. And when summer comes, I'd move the tank to a cooler area.

If the main reason for where you want to put the tank is so your turtles can have twilight, know that they don't need it.

oh i know they don't need it i just do it to spoil them (and me).

i asked the people at the petstore and the guy said algae will be a bigger problem than overheating, so it's away from the bay windows. i'm about to make a new thread to post pix of the new habitat.
