Habitat - Indoor :: How fast does a adult res grow?

Ok so my turtle is about 4.5 inches long. Ive had him since december. This would make him at least a year old correct? Also hes currently in the right sized tank for his size, and i plan on upgradeing him when I go home from school in may to a 90+ gallon. What I want to know is how fast will he grow between then and now. Because Im at school and the biggest tank i can pull off here is the one he is currently in. Also my boyfriend who gave me the turtle said the one he had as a kid did not get much bigger then Alpnose is now and he and my parents think he will be ok in this tank forever. But I know with proper care that he is getting thanks to this site he will get bigger, I just needto know how soon. Thanks in advance and sorry for th long yattery post.

Hmm... I would say the end of this year or a bit more he will be full grown.

Depending on diet, habitat, and genetics, he could be less than a year, a year, or even older. Males generally grow to be between 6-9 inches, but he shouldn't even reach the lower number of that range by the end of the year if he's not overfed. My RES will be 5 years old this spring, and the last time I measured him, he was just a little over 6 inches.

If you're planning on getting a 90+ gallon tank for him, that would be adequate for him probably for the rest of his life (if you go by the guideline of 10 gallons of tank per inch of shell length and he does grow to be 9 inches).

Thanks everyone. I justwanted to make sure that he would be comfy in the tank he is in now until May. I can't wait to get him the huge tank.
