I noticed this white substance at the bottom of my tank. What could it be?

Do you have cuttlebones in your tank? Could it be flakes of cuttlebone?

What does this white substance look like? What do you have in the tank with your turtle?

Looks like powder or something. If I try to take it out it spreads all over the place. I have 2 basking platforms in the tank.

Are you using the Zoo Med turtle dock basking platform? Are you feeding inside the tank?

Your description is too vague, from it, there could be many reasons for it, it would be very beneficial to us if you had a clear picture up.

Don't think I'm using the Zoo Med turtle basking platform. I am feeding inside the tank I clean up all the crums and leftovers after feeding. Both my RES are too little to eat so much and leave this white stuff all over the place. Here's a picture as clear as I can take it. http://i122.photobucket.com/albums/o272 ... powder.jpg

There are probably still crumbs you missed. It happens Then filters push some of the bits around and they settle into certain spots on the bottom of the tank. Could someone also be sneaking a few pellets into the tank?

You don't have any of those white turtle blocks anywhere in the tank do you? It looks like residue from something like that (or possibly crunched-up cuttlebone).

it may be concentrated urea. I know that they can excrete a powdery calcium looking substance when this happens. It comes from eating too much protein (pellets) and not enough veggies....

I don't know if that's what your turtles have....but maybe try feeding more veggies and see if that helps?
