Habitat - Indoor :: no screen for tank

hello... the tank i am going to purchase does not come with a screen for the top... what do i do?

You can purchase a screen or hood of you choice. Depending on the size of the tank the screens may not be easy to find that big. I have a glass hood, but it's in sections, so I just removed the section for my UVB. I believe hardware cloth can be easily adaptable, although you will have to ask others about that because I have no experience.

What tank are you purchasing? Is it the 72 Bow that you were questioning before? That tank you'd have to use a hood, screen tops aren't available comercially over 4ft x 2ft. It'd be extremely hard to make your own screen top w/ the curve, although it's probably possible...

My tanks never had a screen or a hood on them so its not really a big deal.

Oh yeah, doh! If you don't have any animals that can get into the tank i.e cats or dogs (big) then a top isn't really necessary. Just make sure that if the turtle was vertical that it couldn't reach the top. If you have 2 turtles then estimate their height if they stacked...

A tank cover is necessary if your turtles might escape or other animals might get in. I use mesh wire I got at Home Depot over the top of the tank (holes are 1/2 inch). This way, I can fill the tank almost to the top without worrying that my turtle might climb out.
