ok so me and my fiance went to pet-co and got one, finally.

i have a quick question though, how long does it take for the water to warm up,because i set the temp to 79 degrees and its been running for an hour already and is still on 77degrees?

is this normal?

Your tank doesn't need to be 79 degrees.. 77 is just fine. Some heaters are off a degree or 2 from what it's set. What is more important is that the water temperature stays constant.
