It has the potential to be bad, if you get whats called an "ammonia spike". Are you using a new filter or one that has new media in it? If so, go to the pet store and buy some Biozyme, follow the directions, and also do about a 25% water change weekly. Don't change out all the water at once! Also get at least an ammonia test kit, and test the water every couple days...
well i dont have a filter yet and my RES are in a 30 gal right now im going to get one and i put bottled spring watter in it for now an it gets filthy pritty esley
