Habitat - Indoor :: how can I cool down the water

Hi guys,

My turtle's water/tank stays pretty much between 78 and 82.

I think I'd like it to be closer to 75.

Other than ice cubes (and maybe that's the answer, idk) is there a way to cool it down?

78 and 82 should still be fine for the turtle. You can cool it down with fans blowing across the top of the water but it will speed evaporation.
You want to avoid large temperature swings that cooling with ice.

I keep a 2-3 litre bottle of tap water in the fridge and just dunk the 10 degree C water into the tub while my baby turtle is busy exploring the living room. I don't have a filter and instead do twice-a-day water changes. That seems to work pretty okay for me.

I've taken 2-liter bottles, fill them about 3/4 full, freeze them and then place them in a tank to cool it down.
That way you are not adding more water really, but still lowering the temperature.
I've also filled them with hot tap water to raise it a bit. You may need to add several to adjust the temperature enough.

There's also aquarium chillers but they are a bit pricey. However if you wan't something you can set and forget, a chiller is the way to go.

What I did once was I ghetto rigged a HVAC duct and taped it to one of vents on my AC.
