Here's some shots of Sheldon and his new 40 gallon tank (moved in, in September).

So close in shedding those scutes!

Need to start looking into an ATBA. He's loving the room though. :)

Oh my goodness! He's all grown up!
Very nice looking tank, and a very handsome guy :)

Thanks Penelope! I think some times he forgets just how big he is because I catch him trying to hang on things like he used to in the smaller tank. Lol.

Looks pretty cozy :)

Sheldon looks more like a Shelly from the pics.

Thanks Steve.

That's what the vet is thinking too, although if so, would he/she started the whole egg process by now? I'm keeping an eye out for more than weird behavior but nothing yet.

It looks great. Do you have educational place mats underneath the tank? I have them under mine numbers too but instead of cursive writing its a dino mat.

Thanks TortsNTurtles!

I do have educational mats under the tank. I think one of the mats has the dinos on the other side, lol. Either way we'll have smart turtles! ;)

How old and how big is your turt? Bobo laid her first clutch last May, she was roughly 7 inches long and 6 years old :).

xcristina - Well this Wednesday will be Sheldon's unofficial birthday (the day he came to live with me) - and I must say 2 years has flown by. Unfortunately I have no idea how old he was when I got him and due to a nasty bought of fungus and calcium deficiency, he was undersized for his age.

I think by now he is practically 7 inches. I have trouble holding onto him, he's gotten so big. lol

nice picture, how much does that floating platform hold. We have an 8" slider and have the platform on top of bricks to make it higher..I am looking at some sort of cave because turtle is always moving stuff to be private.

Thanks taxman48. The large floating dock is http://www.petco.com/product/12389/Zoo-Med-Turtle-Docks.aspx?CoreCat=OnSiteSearch 40 gallon tanks and up. They sell them at Petco and Petsmart so you can check them out. I think that Zoo-Med makes a cave type toy too. Check out the websites and see.

Although Sheldon loves to swim underneath the dock all the time and hasn't tried to look for a place to hide. :)

A female kept alone might not ever lay eggs, it's just one of those things. On the other hand, some have overactive ovaries and are constantly laying eggs.

Good grief. Well I shall keep my eyes peeled then and be ever vigilant. I do feel bad though if I keep calling him Sheldon and he's really a Shelly. lol
