Habitat - Indoor :: Artificial plants?

I have a RES, she is probably close to 7 years old (not sure though) I have her in a 40 gallon tank and she is pretty happy. I was thinking about getting her some plants, but I don't want to have to deal with real ones. But I am afraid to put in artificial one because I think she will try to eat them. She tries to eat anything in her tank. Currently, she has no rocks cause she would try to eat those too.
Has anyone had difficulties with RES eating artificial plants? Is it a bad idea?
I know they like to 'hide' or rest in the plants so that is what I want to get them for her.

Your RES should realize that the plants are not edible, especially at 7 years old.

40 gallons seems a bit small for a 7 yr old.. How big is she?

I get my fake plants from craft stores, it's a lot cheaper then getting aquarium ones. I find that two types work well, thick plastic grass like plants and sturdy silk ones. Make sure that the coloring they use is either part of the plastic or a permanent dye and not paint.

I tie them to small stones or to eggcrate under the sand. My turtle still tries to eat them from time to time but they have held up pretty well.
