Will/can a turtle crack a glass tank?

I can't say it's impossible, but I don't think it's a likely scenario. My turtles have taken some fast dives off their basking area into the tank walls and there isn't even a scratch. When you consider how much water weight and pressure they have to contain, a turtle surely can't do too much damage.

Interesting. I used to be an avid fish keeper and I've had large fish break my tanks on two separate occasions. Certain species are even known as tank busters. One of my fish that broke it's tank was an oscar--a big, but not huge fish.

I thought for sure that the shells would be damaging.

A turtle is a bit more gentle on the glas than say a mantis shrimp.
