That is too much.. The rule is one inch per 10 gallons tank. So it pretty small for 1 turtle.

Well if you got the turtle already and don't really got space for bigger tank then try to separate them if they fight a lot.

I live in a really small apartment in NYC so I have mine in a 29 gallons tank. One is 5 inches and 1 is 3 inches. They fight but now they calm down a lot so I am keeping them together. Need to change water and filter pretty often.

Edit:

Never feed in the tank if they fight. Lol

That's very crowded. Not to mention the amount of bioload the turtles produce wont get to dissapate very much in that little water.

The rule of thumb is 10 gallons of water per inch of shell. If you have 2 x 5" turtles or 10" of turtle an appropriately sized environment would be around a 100 gallons. Keep in mind they will grow.

From the HABITAT section of this site...
Tank size is the first critical issue you will have to deal with. A guideline to determine this size used by many keepers, as a minimum, is 10 gallons of tank per each inch of shell length (refer to SCL for correct shell measurement). Therefore, a single adult RES will require anywhere between a 90 to a 120 gallon tank.

I agree with Justin3344 and Velpacray. Although, if you can afford it, you could try to build a tank(or tanks) that can accomodate them both or maybe get an adequate sized pre-made pond. My neighbors built their own 60g pond(for fish though) :). Hope you work it out.

Stock tanks or large plastic bins can also be obtained for not a lot of money.

I thought so, but i know someone trying to get rid of another. he wants to take her to the pet store, and i don't have room for another tank. clover is in such good shape here, that i want to make sure the other gets a good home. Is it really not an option? i know she would be healthy here, and i don't want her going to some idiot that doesn't know how to poperly take care of her.

Unfortunately, not likely. :( because, 1) they will most likely fight(because of gender or just plain dominance)
2)They grow very large, my female is just going on three and is 7" now. You turt is 5" and will need all the room he can get. 30g is kinda small as it is for Clover.
3) If clover has been solitary most of his life, then he wouldn't take well to another turtle just "popping" in on his turf.
4) Disease and Stress would spread quick in that limited amount of space.
Sorry, I hope that you can find a solution that best helps the turtle. The best I can think of is either a pre-made pond or like Velpacray said a large plastic bin or stock tank.
Good luck :)
