I just found a 110 gallon reef tank on craigslist. Should I pick it up? Its drilled near the top of the tank.

Saltwater is super expensive so if you plan on keeping it a reef tank better have some cash flow and be ready to spend a few hundred bucks on small things lol

^I think he wants to use it for a turtle tank.

Being a reef tank it's most likely acrylic.

make sure to clean it well, saltwater tanks leave mineral/salt deposits like no other.... unless you're gonna keep a few sea turtles...haha

but if it's for like $50 i'd go pick it up regardless, you never know...

Hey guys thanks for the swift replies! Awesome forum here. Yeah I was planning on using it as a turtle tank. It was all glass and 6ft wide. I dropped the ball on it though. I thought it over for a couple hours went ahead and called the guy to pick it up and somebody had picked it up in a matter of 2 hours! Bummer! I thought all the rain right now in SoCal would have given me a bigger window, but i guess i was wrong! And it included the stand.

I have a 125G(6 foot) glass tank that I don't use. I might be planning on selling it. I live in Burbank.

Let me know when you would like to sell it. I may be interested! I'm located in Glendora, only about 30 minutes away from you.

I gave away a 55 gal tank on craigslist. It was an old tank... given to me... completely etched no hope of the glass ever being clear again. I got over 400 replies from people wanting the tank in the first 2 hours the post was up.

I've learned the hard way the past couple days lol However, it seems like the supply of tanks on CG are endless! I'm meeting someone tomorrow about a 60g tank and a Magnum 350 canister filter for $40! What a deal! I'm in dire need of a new tank since my 20 gallon tank sprung a leak yesterday! So I have Fred in a big Rubbermaid tub right now, he doesn't seem to mind

Yea, the size and weight of aquariums seems to lead many people to think "I just want this big thing out of here" as opposed to "I'm going to maximize profit."

Question for you though.... Did anything specific happen to cause your aquarium to spring a leak? Reading comments like that make me worry since I have a 75 gallon aquarium in my living room and the room has nice hardwood floors and a freshly renovated bathroom sits underneath it. When the aquarium sprung a leak was it such that all the water would have drained in a matter of minutes or hours or was it much slower? Thanks!

It was an old leak that had been sealed. Everything seemed perfect then i looked over bout 3 hours after feeding and my water level was about 1.5 inches lower, for a quick second I thought evaporation because my shade was up but I looked towards the bottom seam and saw the leak. It was a pretty slow leak. Although I have heard of stories and seen videos on youtube of peoples tanks with a pretty steady flow of water. I wouldn't be to worried though, I would imagine the failure rate to be pretty low. The tank was given to me by my brother in law so luckily I'm not out any money.
