Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I just upgraded from the extremely small 10 gallon tank to a 90 gallon tank for my red eared slider but still have a little filter from the 10 gal tank. From the information I gained reading this forum I need a canister filter that has enough media. Does anyone have a suggestion on a certain sized filter or best brand? Does the filter come with media or do I need to put it in?
Thank You,

Most people on this site favor the XP3 filter... though Fluval and Eheim make good canister filters too.

I use a Fluval 404 on my 50 and my tank is always clean. The FX5 is the best for a 90, but it's pretty pricey!

i use an xp3 also but really if you go to ebay and type in canister filter find the sunsun filter that does about 525gph. i would suggest this over the xp3 any day. the price is great too i think $125. i was always leary about buying one but then another friend suggested it to me and i used it for my fish tank for months until i upgraded tanks and went with a sump. its just too much for my hatchlings on the 50 gal so the xp will have to do for the time being.

Sunsun is a chinese product, I don't know about reliability and efficiency in this case. Plus it runs on 55watts which is a lot.

yes sunsun is a chineese product and i have used one for over 11 months with great results and they are cheap enough if they break then another $100 and you have a brand new one with spare parts where as your other filters if they break cost alot more. I wouldnt of bought it cause it sounds like a cheaply made cannister from china. but i was recomended it so i figured i would give it a shot and it puts my xp3 to shame.

mine has never broken plus i have recomended it to other friends and they have bought it and love them also with no problems. it has alot more space for bio media also. i would still use it on my stingray tank but now i run a 125gal tank as my sump/filter and use a reeflo hammerhead to pump it back to the tank. so thats 335watts, 55watts just dosent seem like alot anymore.
