does anyone use a regular desk lamp with a compact flourescent uvb bulb? I was thinking of buying one because it fits wayyyy better than the lamps sold in pet stores but i'm scared it won't work out.

Yea as long as you don"t overload the wattage. I use a 10$ desk lamp i got from target and it works just fine.

Yup, I use clip lamps similar to that for my lights. As Freshprince mentioned, just make sure the wattage of the bulb will be OK for the lamp.
