hey, i bought the 8.5" clamp lamp for the heat emitter, now i got doubts.
my uv blub is the 48" flurecent exo terra repti glo 10.0.
if they'll bask under the clamp lamp, it wont block the uv rays?

ps.
how long the heat emitter should be on? 24h?

If you're using a hood and a clamp lamp, then you'd have to position it so that the basking area is in direct contact with light from both bulbs. Both must shine on the same basking area at some point.

Both bulbs can stay on for about 10 to 12 hours a day.

so should i put the clamp lamp at an angle? (" \ ")
and there's no need to leave the heat on 24/7?

The heat lamp shoud never be left on all the time.

I'd like to suggest the use of one of these... I own three of them and they all work perfectly. You can set the timer for any sort of lighting schedual. The "system" has 4 constant on outlets and two day/night outlets.

As for the clamp lamp, an angle would be your best bet if you cant position both lights right. Having the clamp lamp at an angle would allow you to place it almost anywhere while still making it shine where it needs to.

Edit: I wanted to add that while everyones lighting schedual is different I got mine like this. All lamps come on at 7:30am and go off at 8pm so this way Niko gets 12.5hrs of light every day.

Well, I recommend getting a water heater so at night, when the basking light is off, it'll keep your turtles warm. You don't really need to get any bulb. A heater would do it!
