Habitat - Indoor :: Day light vs Moon light bulbs

Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

We purchased a ZILLA brand aquatic turtle kit for our RES from PetCo about a month ago. The kit came with everything that was needed to set up a habitat according to the company. We set everything up, and Tee is doing wonderful in her new home.
I am the type of person who always makes sure we have plenty of what our pets need. Because of this I wanted to make sure that we had an extra bulb (kit came w/ 2 different types) incase one of them goes out.
The kit came with a Tropical 25 UV coil bulb...which we can find at the pet store. It also came with an incandescent Day Blue Light bulb...which we can NOT find at pet stores. The ones we have seen are Moon Light.
We know the Day Blue is her heat source (the bulb & basking area are hot) and have it above her basking area, and the coil is her "night light" and is on the other side of the tank. We followed the instructions for the position of the lights so they are were ZILLA says they are suppose to be.

Since we can not find the Day Blue bulbs, are the Moon light ones good enough for a heat source? And if not, then what bulb do we use??

The coil bulb is probably a UVB bulb, which your turtle needs WHILE basking along with a heat bulb. For the heat bulb any incandescent over 60 watts should produce enough heat. also, the coil bulb needs to be right over the basking area for proper UVB/UVA exposure. and I would advise no night lights.

Check the basking area temp with a thermometer to see how far the heat light should be away from the basking area. What strength UVB light is it?

The moonlight bulbs are not heat bulbs. The give some warmth to give the effect of a warm night not nearly warm enough to for a basking area.

The zilla tropical bulbs are rated 3.0 the strength you need should be 5.0-10.0

Your still okay for now. Its not gonna hurt the turtle be with out correct strength for another 5months. After another 5 months go and get a uvb bulb rated 5.0 or 10.0.
