hi, my fluval 404 wont pump, i've installed it to the tank, and filled it up with water, and when i try to manually pull the start lever up and down for water to flow through the hose, it's really hard to pump the water up the hose, i've tried doing this even with the fluval 404 on too, could this be something im doing wrong or do i have to send this back for another fluval 404? i got this new from ebay, am i still quality for a refund from the manufacturer?

Fluvals are a pain to prime......
The good news is once the lines are primed, they will stay that way till you clean the hoses because of the aquastop valve.
Fill the filter all the way up with water before hooking it up (which you did good job ;) )
if you still have problems, disconnect the intake hose from the aquastop valve and prime it with your mouth by sucking the water over the ledge of the tank, just be smart about it and don't let the water reach your mouth and put a finger over it till you connect it back to the aquastop. There will be a little water spill.
At this point plug the filter in and go up and down with the priming plunger till water comes out from the supply.Congrats !
If after all that you stil have no water, contact the seller and ask him how to proceed from there.
Good luck!

Make sure the valve is open (I've tried to prime it once when I forgot to open it ).
If you can, watch the intake. You should be able to see a bubble at the top of the clear part of the pipe. When you pump it, you should be able to see the bubble move up and down. Try pumping it slower or faster, and see what moves the bubble up more. Keep pumping even when the bubble goes out of site. Eventually, you should hear a rush of water filling into canister. Once it stops, try plugging it in. If water/bubbles don't come out of the output right away, unplug it, and try pumping it some more.

Good luck!
