Turtle tank setups and other indoor configurations.

I'd like to make a barrier for my future ATBA out of plexiglass. But I'm confused with the thickness of plexi. I have a 7" female RES, how thick should the barrier be & how tall?

i think 1/4" thick would more than suffice.

as far as how tall.... 12" seem rather short for a 7" RES. She' might be 7" but her reach is more than 7". I'm not sure maybe someone else would chime in.

i have researched plexiglass and www.estreetplastics.com seem to have good sized sheets and has qty discounts with reasonable prices.

i didn't think about her reach, darn. perhaps when i make the ATBA i'll estimate & put it a little lower rather than all the way at the top. i plan on using a cork bark as a baking area.

that's the same exact site i was looking at! the seem reasonable too. thank you for helping me out :).

yeah - i should know about reach cuz my turtle escaped and was i surprised to come to an empty tank. luckily he landed in a bucket with plastic shopping bag. saved his life.

they can never get up on their hind legs without support from the wall so if you put like a 1" lip on the top she probably won't be able to get out.

oh i didn't even think about putting a lip at the top. let's say i put a lip or some sort of cover over the ATBA, then could i actually make the length of the walls shorter?

maybe u can fit a metal mesh screen on top - then you don't have to make it as high - and put the heat and uv lamp on the screen.

just make sure it's heat resistant and can take the heat of the lamp
