I have a 10 gallon tank with a 1 inch turtles, how much wattage should be the heating bulb, i have a heating bulb 50watts roughly 6 inches away from my dock.[/list]

What's the temperature of the basking area under those conditions? There are so many variations in bulb and clamp types to give out a straight number, it's best to accurate and regularly measure those temps.

If the basking area is in the 88-90F range with that bulb at that distance, it's fine. You need to measure the basking area temp.

i have a 50watt heat lamp and i can only get the temp to about 83

How far away from your basking turtle is the heat lamp? If the lamp is really close to your turtle and that's the temp, get a stronger wattage and adjust the distance so that it gets up in the range mentioned above. If the temp can be brought up by moving the lamp closer (but not so close that your turtle could touch it and burn himself), then do that. Either way, check the temp with a thermometer.
