ok hello all. so today i came home and my tank is just completely fogged up and it still is. it looks like its improving but slowly. yesterday my baby bro...... threw the hardest piece of bread you could ever find. he threw 2 in there and the next day it looked like really dense and un able to be seen through. should i change the water completely or let the filter cycle the water to let the brown fog go away?

I'm not a water expert, but I would change the water.

let the filter cycle. after the bad bacterium and the good comes out on several weeks. (4-5) thats all. thats ok, if water is foggy. just look at the ammonia and nitrite also PH. if danger, a weeks remove and add 70% water. doesnt have to completely. thats me

First of all it sounds like the water is cloudy from debris not the water cycling or anything like that. I would chance the water now to prevent from some odd bacteria or something growing for foreign debris. Also get something to keep your brother from dropping stuff in there.

I'd change the water, the filter will get all kinds of clogged from all that bread.

And then I'd make it perfectly clear that if your brother isn't mature enough to be around the turtles he isn't allowed near them. Why wasn't the bread removed before it completely disintegrated?

i cleaned out the filter and its cycling out the water. i came home from school and theres a little improvement. i can see the bottom but as i look up its fogged up. my baby brother is 3 and he is definitely a pain sometimes. i ddint know there was bread in there untill i saw alot of bread crumbs and there was this big soaked up big chunk of bread right under the basing dock. it was floating under there i took it out and i think the bread was molded.... so it took it out threw it away and let the filter do its job and the next day thats when it got foggy which was yesterday. now its getting better but i still want to know if i should change the water

well, if your turtle is sensative to water conditions, I'd do a partial water change. Since I am sensative to mold (i'm actually fairly allergic) I personally would do a 50%, but if you're not sensative and neither is your turtle, as long as you don't have anymore food in the tank that might become moldy, you should be fine if you let the water cycle twice.
